Sandy Cochrane, Gravita’s head of VAT, will be presenting a 45 minute webinar on Thursday 12th October from 9:00am – 9:45am, addressing and explaining the main VAT problem areas that both contractors and subcontractors currently face in the construction industry. The areas she intends to cover will include:
- General overview
- The Domestic Reverse charge: understanding the supply chain and whether the contractor or the supplier has to account for the VAT
- The correct occasions when a CIS subcontractor has to charge 5% VAT relating to their work
- Design and build
- VAT and CIS problem areas
- We will also touch briefly on Payroll and the PAYE aspects of setting up CIS payments – an area we are frequently asked about by clients
Once we meet in October, we will have had the results of the CIS consultation and time to digest the detail and what it really means, whether a business is delivering or receiving those services.
Gravita’s Head of VAT, Sandy Cochrane, will lead this webinar. Sandy has been advising clients on the complexities of VAT for 30 years. Sandy has always had a particular interest within the property sector, which in itself is a highly complicated area of VAT, and she has been advising clients on CIS since it was introduced. Having gained significant experience and knowledge in the property and construction sector, Sandy is able to work really closely with her clients, cutting out the jargon to ensure they know and fully understand what they need to do to implement any such changes into their business, crucially so they are VAT compliant.
